Most of the people coming from Venezuela arrive in Brazil by land, crossing the border with the state of Roraima. To offer humanitarian attention to those thousands of people, several UN agencies are working in the region, together with the Federal Government. In particular, since July 2018, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) are receiving support from the European Union to intensify and coordinate these efforts. The project is funded by the European Union, through its Instrument for Stability and Peace (IcSP). Among the activities and actions promoted, are the registration procedures, the accommodation of the most vulnerable groups of people, access to information and assistance to children and victims of sexual and gender-based violence. The IcSP aims to improve the protection environment for Venezuelans and Venezuelans in Brazil and contribute to the peaceful coexistence of this population in the host cities.
